This year has seen more than 15 year 8 & 9 students participate in the Project Y – Community Connections Broadcasting Program at local community radio station 4RFM. The program, jointly run by 4RFM & the ELAM Youth Services Officer, is currently funded by BMA. The aim of the program is to encourage students to learn in an alternative and interactive environment alongside their regular schooling, whilst developing some great new skills in radio announcing, music programming, recording and editing, and live show presenting. Increased confidence and self-belief have also been fantastic ‘side-effects’ of this exciting program which began in October 2012.
4RFM are excited to announce that the 4 students chosen for the Extension Program in Term 4 are Luanco Debruyn, Kyle Atto, Connor Middleton and Jason Scales. These students demonstrated high levels of enthusiasm, commitment and ability throughout the term of their initial program and will now have the opportunity to further their skills and participate in more specialised training including outdoor broadcasting, live show presenting, show programming and editing.
The Project Y program will run again in 2014 so look out for details at school or in the newsletter early next year for your chance to be part of this ‘entertaining’ program!
