25 April 2016 is ANZAC Day, the day we remember all Australians who served and died in all wars, conflicts, and peacekeeping operations. This year, we commemorate the Centenary of the Somme. Almost 300,000 Australians served on the Western Front in France and Flanders, taking part in every major British offensive between 1916 and the Armistice in 1918. More than 46,000 lost their lives, of whom some 18,000 have no known grave. Commemorative services will be held across the Isaac region to reflect and pay tribute to our ANZAC’s and their spirit of courage, mateship and sacrifice for the freedom we enjoy today.
