About 4FRM
4RFM Community Radio is the only radio station in Moranbah. We have grown from humble beginnings as youth radio in 1998 to today where we have a diverse range of the community involved in all aspects of keeping the radio on air. We broadcast throughout Moranbah, Dysart, Coppabella, Nebo and surrounding mine sites and rural communities.
All of our DJ’s are volunteers who range in ages from the very young to the very mature. We offer a diverse range in music as each DJ brings with them their own flavour and listening audience.
4RFM are the voice of the community promoting local events, happenings and news through our ‘The Grapevine’ notices while working closely with clubs, groups, organisations and businesses.
4RFM also run a fantastic youth program, Project Y, offering youth alternative learning programs and also opportunities for work experience for students interested in a career in media and communications. Many of the young people who have been involved the radio station have continued on to be regular volunteer DJ’s and have stayed for many years. Project Y has proven to be very successful since its inception, even receiving a Cultural Achievement Award with the 2014 Isaac Regional Council Australia Day Award Ceremony.
4RFM encourages anyone interested in becoming involved in community radio to contact the station as we offer regular training programs, catering to all learning levels and skill bases.
